

Other times, they’re available in plain sight. Sometimes, they hover across parts of the stages: Concealed behind destructible wall panels: Powerups are acquired through a variety of ways. Strangely, none of the powerup weapons are retained upon entering the next stage. Each character has 5 weapon slots, with the 5th slot being reserved for Bombs. While characters have some specific guns, 4 are shared among all 4 characters and the Default Machine Gun cannot be upgraded. The weapon system in this game follows that of Contra: Hard Corps, with minor differences. See the Stages section of the PlayStation version of Contra: Legacy of War. The cheat codes are also slightly different. There are also some slight differences in behavior of a few of the enemies. The graphics are brighter and less detailed however, the FMV’s are smoother. This Sega Saturn port plays nearly identically to the PlayStation original.
